How Do We Clean Large Commercial Roofs?
The answer to this question all depends on each particular roof. All roofs are treated as individuals with a cleaning plan specially tailored for that particular project. Some rooftops are flat and easy to walk on so we can either access these roofs with a lift or through an access point from within the building. Once up there it is safe for our technicians to move about freely. If the roof is slanted we will usually access with a lift and the techs will try to clean as far as they can reach without ever leaving the lift. This is the safest option for them. By using hose extensions and pressure only to gain distance and never to directly use pressure on the roofing materials, we are able to reach quite far. Sometimes there are trees, other buildings, fences or other things just in the way so we cannot get the lift to an area where we would easily be able to reach all parts of the roof and this will require our staff to step onto and walk around on top. No matter the what the material is made of (metal, concrete, clay, shingle) the cleaning processes is generally very similar. Chemicals mixed with a sticking agent called a surfactant will be used to rid the surface of mildew discolorations. The dirtiness of the roof will determine how much chemical and the amount of the mixture. Once the "soap" as we call it is sprayed on it is allowed to sit for a short period of time and then it is gently rinsed away. We offer Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Naples roof cleaning services.
